Village Cricket

Charity Cricket Match on the village green  - Parents (grown ups)  -v- children (mostly teens!) Raising money for a new village hall roof!

.As my holiday is rather restricted this year (it's a long story) I am having the odd day off  here and there - tomorrow is another, booked again, for art.....

Art Course - Day 2

.My first attempt at painting acrylics on canvass......I have used oils before but prefer to use charcoal and pastels....This is an enormous canvas - one I had bought a long time ago and was gathering dust - I put it to use today and have gained a rather large space in the study now!

Boggy Blog!!

.He was a very very nice man who came to unblock our unfortunately very smelly blocked draines - Yes...... in this heat!  

It woud be the day we had a special guest staying with us from Oz too?!! Hey ho, we had a great day - and yes, I did ask his permission before taking the photo and he seemed very happy to pose !!

Hot Dog!

.Hartley in the heat.......35degrees registered on the thermometer today......hottest day of the year so far and even hotter if you are wearing a fur coat!

The Ant

..saw this little chap whilst taking a macro shot of this new leaf on the clematis - he was very busy!

Butterfly

Whilst sneezing continuously today, walking through a corn field, I zoomed in and snapped this photo....

I am really interested in the curly whirly type thing on the top of its head - let me tell you more.....

Butterfly proboscises are slender tubular feeding structures.  The proboscis works like a straw through which a butterfly drinks its food (It smells it's food with its feet!).  The proboscis is particularly well adapted for reaching into flowers for nectar and for piercing fruit.  When a butterfly is not feeding it keeps the proboscis curled up on top of its head.

So, there we are.......some more information to mull over!
